Apple released iOS 17 today with the great features

Apple is set to release the final version of iOS today, which will become accessible for iPhones around the world. This long-awaited update will be compatible with iPhones from the XS series or later and will bring a host of new features, including interactive small gadgets, Standby Mode, Contact Posters, and many more.

During its Wonderlust event on Tuesday, Apple announced that iOS 17 will be available as a free upgrade on September 18. As per several reports, the tech giant from California has decided to introduce exciting features such as enhanced FaceTime, contact sharing with NameDrop, a new journal app, and updated autocorrect.

Beta testers had early access to iOS 17 and now the eagerly anticipated full version is set to be released to the general public. Several noteworthy features have generated excitement among users. For instance, FaceTime receives an upgrade enabling users to leave video voicemails. NameDrop facilitates contact sharing by simply bringing phones close together. Additionally, a new journal app is now available for the more literary and organized individuals.

Apple has also improved autocorrect to better understand user intentions, sparing them from accidentally typing "ducking" instead of another word, according to a report by Mashable India. A media report from USA Today suggests that the new StandBy mode update will be a convenient addition to iOS 17. After the update, your iPhone will turn into an Amazon or Google smart home display when placed on its side while charging, mentions the report.

Any iPhone released from the iPhone XS onwards is compatible with iOS 17, which was introduced in September 2018. Therefore, any iPhone that is more than six years old will not support the latest iOS update. In India, Apple users can download the iOS 17 update starting today from 10:30 PM IST.

To guide users through the process of downloading iOS 17 here is all the essential information they need to know:

- The iPhone SE (second generation) and all iPhones released in 2018 or later are compatible with iOS 17. However, software support for the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X will be finished with the introduction of iOS 17.

- Apple recommends backing up the iPhone before downloading the new operating system. While the chances of data loss are low, it's a precautionary step. The iPhone typically backs up automatically when connected to power and Wi-Fi. If this feature is turned off, users can enable it by going to Settings > Your Name > iCloud> iCloud Backup, and then tapping 'Back Up Now' to create a backup of their device. To begin the download of iOS 17, follow these steps:

  • Open the Settings app on your iPhone.

  • Tap General > Software Update.

  • Tap 'Download and Install'.

  • To update immediately, tap Install.

  • Alternatively, tap 'Later' and select 'Install Tonight' or 'Remind Me Later'.

  • If you choose 'Install Tonight', connect your device to a power source at night, and it will update by morning.

  • If prompted, enter your passcode.

After choosing 'Download and Install,' a loading bar will appear, along with an estimated download time. Once the download finishes, simply restart your device and wait for to install.
